Xalapa is a colorful city, well-known for its coffee growing industry, that still keeps its old town air which along with a deep cultural value makes it a highly interesting tourist destination.
Xalapa’s architecture took its inspiration from the majestic Porfiriato era, with the marked french tendencies that existed when the city was built. A good example of this style is a high school located in the downtown area.
The Museum of the City is known for its imposing contemporary architecture and its richness of artifacts, pieces and vestiges of the Olmeca, Totonaca and Huasteca cultures. In the same way, the recently built Museum of Technology is an interesting place to visit, as it is the old mansion of the General Antonio Lopez de Santa Ana; the ruins of Tajin are another important place you shouldn’t miss. Besides, almost any spot in the city gives you a beautiful view of the Citlatepetl Volcano or Pico de Orizaba.
The traditional alleys of Xalapa tell interesting stories and tales to attract and entertain the tourist; parks, botanic gardens, museums and galleries also promise an experience you’ll wish to repeat.
